He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet. John 13:5
Imagine: the Incarnate God of the universe, taking a lowly form of a servant, wrapped in a towel, on His hands and knees, washing His disciples’ dirty feet and serving them —even to Judas who was about to betray Him. What humility!
He said, “If I then have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:13-14)
If Jesus Christ is willing to humbly and unconditionally serve His followers in a lowly human task, we should follow His example and be willing to perform the most unpleasant task for our fellowmen.
