Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves.
God is gracious and merciful, but He is also holy and just. This requires Him to confront sin, which destroys the people He loves. Unless He can turn the hearts of His people from their wicked ways, they will not only harm themselves but also miss out on an intimate relationship with Him.
If you are being disciplined for sin, remember that it is because God loves you and wants to turn your heart back toward Him. Be grateful that God cares enough about you to want the very best for you, even if it means temporary pain, but it can bring permanent blessing.
So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman. Esther 8:2
Mordecai was at one time sitting at the palace gate. Haman was in the palace. Haman’s dubious plans to put Mordecai to death came to nothing when Esther intervened on his behalf. Now the tables turned dramatically. Haman was hanged and Mordecai was honoured.
Perhaps you are experiencing a time when you have been humiliated. Don’t despair. God will vindicate you. You are in a period of testing. These times will someday give way to an abundance that is beyond your comprehension. You have God’s word on it!
‘You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns into my darkness into light.’
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, some days it feels like my light is almost extinguished, but I know that You want to come alongside me and cause my light to burn bright again. Thank You for giving me hope in this hopeless situation. Light my path, Lord, for I do not know what to do. Amen
Galatians 4:7 ‘Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are His child, God has made you His heir.’
What a privilege we have to be children of God! We are not slaves or servants, but we are sons and daughters. The Lord sees you as one of His very own beloved child. As His child we can enjoy what He has prepared for us – our inheritance!
PRAYER: Lord, thank You that through Jesus Christ my Saviour I am Your child, and how wonderful it is to know that You are my Father and I choose to settle for nothing less than Your best for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Great is His faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 23
When trouble strikes and our hearts grow faint we so often forget the goodness and love of our Father in Heaven for and we begin to doubt Him. When that happens we begin to be consumed by our stress and our fears and begin to blame God. When we recall His great love for us, reminding ourselves daily of His compassion toward us, our hearts gain strength. When the stresses of life begin to overwhelm you begin to reflect on the faithfulness of God in the past. Thank Him for how He rescued you, how He provided for you- the stress will slowly melt away
Galatians 3:6 ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’
Taking God at His word is what faith is all about. His Word is the final authority. Abraham believed even though what was promised was impossible. Has God promised you something? Keep holding on to the Lord and His promises – keep believing! When you do so, God counts you as righteous.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You that I can trust and believe Your every word. I choose to believe, regardless of what I may see with my natural eyes. In Jesus Name, Amen.
‘All nations will be blessed through you.’
The Lord promised Abraham that ALL nations would be blessed because of him.The truth is that the Lord wants to use each of our lives to be a blessing. How can you be a blessing to those around you? The reason He has blessed you is to be a blessing. May the Lord use your life and may many be blessed because of you!
PRAYER: Lord, I dedicate my life into Your mighty hands. Use my life to bring light, hope, life and blessing into the lives of those who are discouraged, hopeless and despairing. May my life count, I pray. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Gates and bars do well to protect a home or a city, but then only are they secure when God makes them strong. The true safety is in God’s defence of it. Psalm 127:1 says, unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards watch in vain. Is God your defence? Have you taken shelter and refuge in Him? You can rest assured that He will keep you and your home safe and secure. Your children will be blessed within your walls. Don’t live in fear, child of God. For He has strengthened the bars of your gates and blessed your children within your walls. Psalm 147:13
Ephesians 3:20 ‘Now all glory to God, Who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.’
The Lord is able to do more than you could ask or think. His mighty working power is at work within each one of us. His purpose for working in our lives goes beyond what we could imagine or think.
Give Him glory, He will accomplish more than we could in our own strength.
PRAYER: Lord, I bring You all praise and glory today. I declare that You are able to accomplish what You have planned and purposed for my life. Work within me I pray and may I ‘see’ more than I could have asked for or imagined. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
A friend is someone we look forward to meet and hang out with. How would you feel if your best friend refuses to converse with you or avoids talking you? Can you imagine the hurt it’ll cause you? How often we do that to God? He has laid down His life to have a relationship with you and me. How often we totally ignore Him through the day, through the week. We go to Him only when need arises. The TV, the texting and the Facebook takes away the precious moments that we can spend with Him. If this be the case, how can you expect to spend eternity with Him, to be in sweet communion with Him forever and ever?
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:2
Like the Psalmist, is our soul thirsting for the living God?
