God’s Word tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His mercies fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The enemy would have us believe that we have messed up so badly that we are bound to live in defeat; that we have failed too many times and God is angry at us. But God’s Word says that He loves me and forgives me and understands that I am weak and is willing to help me. Isn’t God amazing?  He gives us a fresh start every day.  How can we be defeated, then? How can one be discouraged with His unfailing love surrounding us?  How can we be sad and hopeless when we serve the greatest God in the universe?

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 Are you dealing with fears that make you feel helpless and hopeless? Fear is one of the greatest weapons satan uses against us, as it attacks our minds. He tells us everything that is contrary to the word of God. How can we fight against such thoughts? By believing the truth of the second part of the verse. God through His Holy Spirit has given us power, love and a sound mind, not in our strength but in His. Lord, teach me to live a victorious life through the empowering love and strength of Your Holy Spirit. Break those strongholds of fear that bind me up and keep me from experiencing the peace and joy that You desire for me. In Jesus’ name I ask, Amen.

Who is like the LORD our God, the One enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the dump to seat them with nobles, with the princes of His people. He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother to her children. Hallelujah! Psalm 113:4-9 No matter what you are going through today, God says, your future is going to be good. Maybe, you seated in a dump, in ash-heap, it doesn’t matter. Don’t despair! God says He will stoop down and look on you with compassion. He will raise you up, He will give you a future that you cannot imagine. What is too hard for the Lord? You hope in Him will be richly rewarded.

Great souls are grown through struggles and storms and seasons of suffering. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:4) When Habakkuk became depressed and restless because God wasn’t acting quickly enough on His promises, God said, “The revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. If you are restless right now, be patient, God is not finished with you yet.” He is developing your character right now. Keep doing what you are doing faithfully. God will come through for you.

Pride refuses to depend on God and be subject to Him and takes the honour due to Him. What makes me reluctant to trust God but rather try to make the impossible happen all by myself? Pride. God hates pride. God resists the proud because the proud resist God. Pride will not admit to sin. The heart of pride never confesses, never repents, never asks for forgiveness. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5). Isn’t it easy to see why? Humility is happy to do what pride will not. The humble heart is quick to acknowledge the need for God, eager to confess sin, willing to kneel before heaven’s throne. And it’s no wonder God makes His grace abound to the humble!

What a comfort to know that the loving hand of God is holding, supporting, and carrying us through the beginnings and endings and each moment in between. From a child’s first cry to its final breath, from the first day of school to the day we graduate, the start of a new job to the day we retire, and the blooming flowers of spring to the chilling blizzards of winter, Jesus is with us. If we have repented of our sin and trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation, our Savior’s words hold true: “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). The Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, has the final word in your life, in your situation!
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord… – Revelation 1:8

When you have truly come to the place where you feel tired of waiting on God, hearing words like “Your time will come” does little to help. You don’t quite want to hear how someone else waited for 20 or 30 years before their blessing came. Especially when you need God to move now and it seems like He is doing nothing. You get tired of crying, you get tired of praying and waiting on God. I believe this is how the psalmist felt in Psalm 43:1 when he cried out: “God, where are You when the wicked surround me?” He did not know how or when God would deliver him. He was depressed. He was tired. In spite of all of this he said “I will still hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, my Saviour and my God. God is faithful, He has helped every single person in the Bible, He will help you too.

Here’s hope from God’s Word, if you find yourself discouraged, struggling, or weary:
“I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Psalm 121:1-3 When we look around we get anxious and fearful, but when we lift our eyes to the Maker, He won’t allow us to fall. We may find ourselves on slippery slopes, but the God who knows all, knows our way. And even when we stumble, He will keep our footsteps firm. For if He made all of heaven and earth, surely He has an incredible plan, for you and for me.

Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed and said to his servant, “Go now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea.” (1 Kings 18:42-44) Elijah didn’t give up praying, even though the answer had not yet come. But he knew God would answer his prayer, it was only a matter of time. Have you been praying for something desperately? Don’t give up asking until you see the answer. The answer to your prayer might just be round the corner. Don’t give up too soon, God is listening.

Psalm 1:6’The LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.‘Doing the right thing and obeying God’s word always lead to blessing in the long term. The wicked may prosper for a moment, but their end is destruction. God watches over our path and that is so comforting. Even though the path seems rugged and thorny, His eyes are upon us and He will preserve our lives.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You that right now You are watching over me and my life. I choose to do what honours and pleases You, for I know that in the end I will see Your blessing and favour resting on me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
